Of the 8 professors in the story, which one do you identify with the most? Why?
I identify the most with Professer Gonzales, who said: "Learning should be active and fun".
Why? Because I think thats the most successful way to learn things, even if there are not that interessting for you. But the teacher can make the topic interessting, he can use debates, videos, field trips, group projects and all the other things, the professor named. If i should learn about a really boring topic and just listen to the teacher in front of the class..i think i would start doing something else and stop listening. But when I have to do, for example a group work, it´s more easy for me, because, first you can share the work, you can bring your thoughts together and second it´s more fun to work in a group with people and to reach something as a group.
Which professor do you identify with the least? Why?
I identify the least with Professor Donnelly.
Yeah it kind of motivied me when professors are really strict and taking points of for absences and all this things. But is it a positiv motivation? No! I mean of cours I am going to do my homework and going to class if i know the professor takes points of for absences and not doing homework, but i wouldn´t like the class and the teacher, even if the subject of the class one of my favourits is. But if I always have to to that and this, i would really hate it. Negativ motivation is a kind of motivation, but I think after a while I would drop the class if its possible, because I definitiv prefer positiv motivation.
As a student, what motivates you?
Give 3 examples of how you would work with your professors to increase your motivation in the classes that do not motivate you as much as others?
I´m getting motivied by group work because I really like to work together wit other people, to solve problems together, and not sitting alone in your room and getting a headach because you have no idea how to solve the problem. But as a group the others can help you and you can help others.
The second thing which really motivies me are guest speakers. For example, when we studied the second world war in history, our teacher invited Max Mannheimer, who was a prisoner in the concentration camp in Dachau, so I could imagen so much better how horrible it must have been to live during the second world war.
Another thing which really motivies me are field trips. Okay not in every subject is that possible, but for example in history. In Germany for example we visited the concentration camp and other historical places.
On the other side, how I said befor I´m not getting really motvied by things like taking points. For me it´s negativ motivation. And negativ motivation is not really motivation it feels more like i´m getting punished if i don´t do this and that

I agree most with professor Gonzales becuase if a teacher is standing in the front of the room just giving a lecture, most of what they say goes in one ear and out the other but if a teacher gets you active in something and you are doing something fun the information actually sticks in your head and you will be excited to learn. Although I also really agree with professor Harvey. Even though kids might be active in some kinda of project, if they don't want to learn and they aren't at least somewhat motivated, there is no way to make them motivated and teachers shouldn't waste their time on those kinds of kids.
Which professor do you identify with the least? Why?
I dissagree most with professor Fanning. I dissagree becuase giving them a "challenge" is exactly like giving them homework. And i think most kids who arn't motivated are like that because they don't want to do their homework, not because they think they can't. So even if you give them a "challenge" I still think that students won't do it.
As a student, what motivates you?
What motivates me is feeling like I have accomplished something. And if I have fun while accomplishing something would be a plus. I know that if I have a fun class I will try my hardest in that class.
Give 3 examples of how you would work with your professors to increase your motivation in the classes that do not motivate you as much as others?
One thing that would increase my motivation is going on field trips somewhere cool. It gets you excited and gets you out of the classroom which is a nice change.
Another thing is group work. In a group you all work together so you have do something to help the group or you feel like you let the kids in your group down and thats a crappy feeling.
Also, relating what I'm learning to real life somehow. Most things students learn in a class room they end up asking themselves, "when am i ever going to use this in real life?" and so if you can relate it and know that you will actually be able to use it, students will get motivated.

I believe that professor Donnelly had the best idea. She/he appointed that getting kids to focus was involved with getting them in small pairs and groups. To reward kids with points on those who did well and tried hard. It wwould help to motivate the other students to try harder too. Its strict buisness but its sometimes tough love that is the best solution to get kids motivated. I've had teachers like that and even though they were "jerks" they got the kids to do it! And most passed with a B.
The professor I believe the least in is Buckley. He/she is an idiot because he/she just wants them to choose their own assignments... NO CHALLENGE. They're going to make it such an easy class and when they turn in their final project, it'll just be a piece of paper with the words "My paper, the end" on it.
What motivates me in school is pretty much nothing. I really have this bad attitude about not having motivation. Regardless to how well I do in school and life, the way I see is that whatever happens happens. I get good grades, I am a good social person, I do very well at music, but I'm just not someone that goes after something. And thats what I need to work on.
Give 3 examples of how you would work with your professors to increase your motivation in the classes that do not motivate you as much as others?
1) I would show up to their offices when I needed help with something.
2) I could actually get to know the professor.
3) I could research the programs and be obtimistic about the class and understand its just a benefit of higher education.

Give 3 examples of how you would work with your professors to increase your motivation in the classes that do not motivate you as much as others?
After reading this story, I feel I identify with Professor Buckley because I feel freedom is a good thing in college. I know that I sometimes find it difficult to find time to do everything with work and all, and flexibility sounds very nice. I feel that being in college is a choice and if you really want to succeed in it you will. So choosing how you want to succeed and when you want to succed is a good idea in my opinion. If you can't do it and take advantage of the laid back atmosphere, then maybe college isn't for you.
I found that I identified the least with Professor Donnelly. Though he does have some good points, I still do not think it is the best idea. Having quizzes everyday and taking points off for absences is a little bit harsh. I know that I am someone who tends to be running late for one reason or another and penitalizing people for it doesn't seem very just. This isn't high school anymore where you get detentions for being late. We've already been through that. One point that I totally disagree with is where he said to take off points when they screw up. That is completely discouraging and will probably invoke more failure.
Sometimes being motivated is a difficult thing for me. Instead of reading my book or doing homework I always have other things I'd rather be doing. And half the time I do them. But I do find time to do what I need to do to succeed. In college, I have a much more flexible schedule where I have a lot of time in the afternoon with nothing to do. If I have a reading assignment, I usually wait until the day of it to read it so it is fresh in my mind. I don't completley find it procastination because I choose to do it then, and feel it helps. I also think to myself that somewhere down the line it will all help me out.
1. For me to be more motivated I need to talk to teachers when Im unsure rather than just sit back and let it ride.
2. Try and do homework earlier and talk to other people to see if they understand it better.
3. Maybe do some outside study besides class work to understand the subject more thoroughly

I think I identify most with Professor Gonzales because learning should really be a envigorating experience yet far too often it is not. I often have hard times understanding concepts and pretty much the only learning I do in classes where I have to study is memorize facts and vocabs, do ok on a test, and then totally forget what I just learned. I believe Gonzales has a good idea of using a variety of different methods to teach students what they need to learn. A variety of different methods, to me, would be a lot more effective than just listening to lectures and taking notes.
I identify the least with Professor Harvey because I believe I have been incredibly motivated by every teacher I've ever had, or I wouldn't be a college freshman today. I mean, come on, how many "based on a true story" movies are there, where teachers come in, love students, and motivate them to become the best men and women they can be. Anyways, that's my two cents.
I stay pretty much motivated on my own in all my classes but I still need motivation a lot in a kind of codependent way. I believe my teachers could motivate me simply by keeping on doing what they're doing. They can answer my questions, occasionally encourage me when I'm doing really well, and show me life skills within their courses that could help me suceed in my quest toward a bachelor's degree and whereever life takes me.

In the story “Popson’s Dilemma,” I identify most with Professor Gonzalez. I completely agree with his philosophy that learning ought to be a fun and interesting enterprise. Students will always participate in class a lot more readily if the professor can find a way to engage them in an active way. In contrast, I identify least with Professor Buckley. Letting students pick the assignment, due date, and free absences of their choice just doesn’t seem to be an effective way to get them into the classroom ready to be serious about their school work. If anything, this might make their disengagement from the class and the work that must be done for that class worse.
In my case, I’ve always done better, and ultimately learned more from classes in which the teacher has found a special way to present the material in a fresh and fun way. Also, asking questions, sitting in the front of the class, and staying on top of my homework have all led to success in whatever subject. This success then motivates me to continue to do well.

Of the 8 professors in the story, which one do you identify with the most? Why?
Professor Gonzales.
Although I think all of the proffesors points of view were correct. But that only depends on the individual student. Some may be motivated by fear of grades (deducting points) others may be motivated by a positive motivation, others by the mere idea or money in their futures.
But for my case, I think I'm motivated by a teacher that sees the good side of things. One that is always trying something different, new ideas on how people can learn. Learning should be fun, and it is fun. Yesterday I had a psychology exam, it was so hard to study all the terms and all the parts of the brain, but once I actually understood all of this things and I started liking psychology, who knew that one test would make a difference for me, I used to dislike this class, now I'm really into it. My teacher always brings videos to class, which makes it fun.
Which professor do you identify with the least? Why?
Professor Harvey's idea.
Because life is not about when you are ready. You need to be prepared for everything that is coming your way, in this case a class.
You have to do your best in a case like this. You need to try and like your class. You need to have an urge to learn so you can become more successful in your academic career.
It's not about wether you are ready or not, like one of my teachers in elementary school always said "we are born ready"
be ready for everything life is not easy, you just have to learn to love it, good or bad. It's still going to teach you a lesson and you are still going to learn something even from someone that is not motivating you.
As a student, what motivates you?
Give 3 examples of how you would work with your professors to increase your motivation in the classes that do not motivate you as much as others?
1) Be Positive. I want my teachers to have a positive attitude towards the class that they are teaching. I want my teacher to be in love with what they are teaching that way I can see how much it really matters and how important it is to them. By this I will have a deep motivation because it's something that they really care about and they (teachers) will want to share everything they know.
2) Be creative and Spontaneous. Everyone is creative, there is not such thing as a non creative human being. Even if the teacher is old-fashioned he must have a lot of imagination on how he can make his class more interesting and appealing to their students.
Visual aids are what moves me more towards learning, nobody likes a book without pictures or a class without a presentation.
3) Organization. Organization is the key to a good class. I have had classes were all the students are on time and the teacher is a little late. I know we should be happy with this. We are a little but the thing is that the students get a bad reaction, by naturally feeling that the teacher does not care about their students.
Give the grades on time, one of my mayor motivations about going to a class is just the anxiety to see my grades on some paper, test, or homework. Getting a good grade is one of the greatest feelings in the world, because it's something that you have achieved only by yourself.

Prof. gonzales! i relate to this method of teaching the most and know from experience that it works, not fr everyone but for me definitly in my high school there was never a dull moment in my class's their was always something crazy going on like my teacher pete he would d this crasy voice impersination of his aunt who came from ireland in my irish history class!
prof. harvey is who i identified wit the least simply because if you take that attitude then no one will want to learn, you have to capture your audience and then challenge them!
lots of caffiene is the main motivator in my life as a student but also not letting myself get overwhelmed because if i do i have a tendancy to throw everything away rather than just the things that are bogging me down.
1. by asking my english teacher if i could change what my project was about if it stil perained to the subject i was taking.
2. by helping the kids who sat next to me in my math class to learn the what we were doing which helped me learn it better in the process.
3. by relating something i learned in class to something that was happening in my life at the time which made me think well maybe more of what he is saying is pertinent to my life.

Great job on your blog this week! I found your comments to be really insightful. As a teacher, I find it very helpful to know what motivates students and what they find most helpful. Keep up the good work!

Of the 8 professors in the story, which one do you identify with the most? Why?
I believe that I indentify most with Professor Fanning. Professor Fanning is all about boosting our self of steam to make us know that we can do this. Thats the only thing that we need to motivate ourselves and succeed in life.
Which professor do you identify with the least? Why?
I identify the least with Professor Buckley. I think this because if you really give that much freedom to your students I dont know how the outcome would be. The students would take it so easy on eachother, you wouldnt get anything out of it. Todays students are all about making their own lifes easier
As a student what motivates me?
I think whenever I do well on something I get a little more motivated. A good teacher is something that really motivates me. When a teacher really connnects with their students they show a sense of respect and do the work assigned to them.
3 examples
I am staying after class in math to get some help and communicate with my teacher.
I am spending extra time on notes so I can contribute in class discussions in biology.
My teacher in biology is taking us on a feild trip.
I agree with professor Harvey. Some students cannot be motivated. And its not the professors job to motivate its to teach. When i teach i try to make the class fun and exciting but when i have students that dont listen and there for dont understand and struggle i explain in a non-fun/exciting way that its there choice to listen or not but if they want to learn they need to. After that stern warning if they still dont listen i move on with out them. I identified least with Proffessor Chang because i dont believe that would motivate anyone. Its a stupid argument. What motivates me is my future. I have a general plan and i do what i need to do to get there.
i dont believe that i would work with my instructor to get motivated. I dont think its his/her job to deal with that.
