In this chapter, we discussed how to:
- Act with purpose - choosing things that move us forward towards our goals
- Employ self management tools - planning and carrying out purposeful actions
- Developing self discipline - showing commitment, focus and persistence in pursuing our goals and dreams.
This week's blog is all about how you can do the things listed above to achieve your goals. Please respond in at least a paragraph to the following questions.
Blogs are due on Friday, October 3rd, by Noon.
- Write system about the (or lack of system) that you presently use to decide what you will do each day. There is no "wrong" answer. Consider things like: How do you know what homework to do? When to study for tests? What classes to attend?
- Write about how you could use or adapt one of the self management tools in this chapter to improve your outcomes or experiences. **If you do not want to use any of these tools, explain why.

The way I choose to organize my daily schedule is a bit sketchy. Pretty much I just go by memory. Often, I find studying for tests is difficult for me unless it is something I really enjoy. If I don't like it that much, I'll usually just read it the day of the test so it's fresh in my mind.I have gotten better at it though because I sit down and think about all I need to do that day and generally pull it off fairly well. I could be more successful at it if I wrote everything down rather than just thinking about it. And in college I have a lot more free time during the day, so that is when I do my homework and have the nights free to work, or do whatever I want.
I could definitley help my self out by writing things out, and oraganizing papers of my classes better rather than just putting them all in one binder right next to eachother and getting mixed. Possibly studying more often as well.

Well, since i have a very bad problem with short term memory loss (a curse handed down from my dad) i must write everything down. Planners work but dont cut it. Usually i have sticky notes every where in my life. In highschool i didnt use a planner just sticky notes and that was a disaster. So un-organized... Sometimes i will forget to write things down and i will remember about 10 minutes before it's due. That is no good. I really dont think any of the tools would help me just because it's even more work then i already have. I think im just going to invent an electronic device that keeps track of all my assignments and engagements. Wait, isn't that called a palmiolet. Just messing around but it would be about the same thing but would talk to me and remind me a day or two in advance. That is exactly with i need to keep me on top of things.

I have always used an agenda to keep up with my assignments and what I need to do each day. After every class I Write down my homework and when its due. I baby sit a lot so I also write down the days im working and for how long. I like to get my work done as soon as possible so it want build up usually I will do my homework after class if I have the time or later that night before I go out. This really helps maintain my schedule and keep up with my class.
I feel like I have the perfect method to managing my life. I have always be a organized person and keep an agenda ever since I can remember and it really seems to pay off. To do list also really help me keep track of what needs to be done and it’s a great feeling when you can maker off something that you have completed that day.
The system I use in my life is general and organized. I go to school everyday, I find time to study everyday, and I get things done before they are due. I love having a three day weekend to just do absolutely anything I want with out having to worry about things I need to get done. I want to go to parties, I want to play music, I want to drive, and I want to find scholarships so I won't have to attend CMC next year. Not that I don't like it, but I need to get out of this town! So I try really hard everyday to get the things I need done as quick as possible. I strive to get a G.P.A of a 3.5 and higher because I want to prove to the colleges that I'm worth their money!
I personally am doing fine at this college and I really don't need any other help. I am currently rocking A's in pretty much all my classes. If not, their B's. My time managment is perfect and I always find time to do what ever I want when ever i want it!
the only system i really use is to just go with the flow, it ussualy works pretty well for because when i fight the flow or try to plan somethng out to much ten it ussually doesnt work but if i just roll with the day it works good.
with my schoolwork my system is to do my homework the day before its due and do my readings the day of because then the information is fresh in my mind and i can regurgitate the info bak in class.
Most of my homework I have to do is available in blackboard, so I don´t have to wirte it down because I just have a look in blackboard for a few times every day. If there is some homwork which is not in blackboard I go by memory, which works pretty good. I also take notes in my classes, so if I have to study for my test, I start most of the time two days before the test and go over my notes and do some exercises. If its about what classes I have to attend, the first time I had to use my schedule, but now I just go by memory.
So i dont necessarily need one of the self management tools, for example a calender, because im doing pretty well by using my memory.

I usually know what homework to do by doing the big assignments first. I usually tackle all my reading assignments on Fridays, do any papers, etc on Saturdays, and then finish off my assignments on Sundays. I usually don't have good study skills for Biology. I tend to study a night to two nights before the quiz and not very well for that matter. I never seem to know what to study, how to study well, how to study quick and successfuly. I needs a tutor.
I tend to remember what to do everyday, but lately, remembering has not served me, especially with Biology I. I tend to go to classes, simply on the basis of being required to go. I didn't really like any of the self-management techniques listed in the books because they all require lists and lists are not that enjoyable for me.
Someone once told me about a year ago some great advice about managing my time. Working for 20 minutes than taking a 10 minute break worked for me for a while but I never really worked at it long enough to reap the benefits. I failed to follow the rest of her instructions. I failed to reward myself everytime I got all my work done and not reward myself when I didn't. Conditioning myself to follow through on these actions can do nothing but benefit me in the long run.
I believe I can use this method better because I have already conquered my reading assignments by reading five pages, than taking five minute breaks, and so on and so forth. Successfully obtaining self-management in one area should inspire me, inspire us all to strive towards conquering the world, in terms of managing our lives and managing them well.
Before I go to bed everynight I do a recount of the things that I have to do next day, and I plan my day, this way I don't go to sleep stressed. It's pretty much a pattern that you learn, you organize yourself before the new day starts.
I know what I have to study, when and with who, or the errands I have to run. And the people I have to talk to back home.
After that I put the alarm clock on my cellphone and I go to sleep relieved, because I have a plan for the next day.
If some homework or exams are not due the next day, I organize myself in my planner to see when I have to do such activity. A great tip someone gave me is that in your planner or in your agenda, write the due day a day before it is due. This way you will always have your work done on time.
The best tool in the chapter is a calendar, I use the calendar in my planner, that way I know exaclty what I have to do. And on the other bright side I never forget any special dates or birthdays...
My daily system is one that changes everyday. It all depends on certain litte aspects that make up my day. Did I get enough sleep last night. Am i taking care of myself and staying healthy. Whats my mood going to be like today. Its all about how i feel and how i want my day to go. This brings up the thought of motivation. Without motivation my days would be a long and dull one. The way i try to motivate myself, and orginize my day is, figure out how to space it all out. If you can find a balance and keep finding a balance of fun and work every day, then you dont need to worry about the future. You will be alright
The way i decided what to do each day is pretty simple. I do tuesday work on friday, half of wednesday work on saturday and the other half on sunday. and i do thursday work on monday. sometimes though i can get extra work done or i blow it off. I dont think that any of the tools would help me because when i wish to do something i dont like it to take long and the tools would take time
